View Full Version : Grand Canyon and Vegas area photo ops
I'm plannng a trip to Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire State Park next week. Any ideas about photo ops out there will be appreciated since I've never been there. I know about shooting mostly a.m. and p.m. but anything else will be useful. Thanks, Paul
So you are going to Vegas? There are a lot of photo opts there but if we told you where to go your photos would look like all the rest of ours! That wouldn't be fun. You will acquire much greater satisfaction if you venture into this trip using the following techniques at the sites of your choice.
1) Mount your camera on a tripod right before sunset, sunset, and at nighttime to utilize timed exposures. (Maybe near the downtown, casino areas that have many lights and neon signs)
2) Use a 16mm (almost fisheye lens) to photograph expansive landscapes (Canyons), but use a tripod for ultimate sharpness.
3) OK, go to the dam and shoot all kinds of angles with a few different lenses.
For all of the ideas mentioned above, experiment with filters (polarizer, ND, colored, etc.) and you should be able to bring back some memorable photos. The whole point is creativity. Just get into your car and scout around.
Good luck. Will you post some of your photos on this site?
