Has anyone taken an HND in photography? I would love to know what you thought of it as I might be doing this. Thanks

Sepia, is there a more generic term that a colonist :~) might recognize rather than HND? I don't know what you're referring to.

Higher National Diploma. It is a UK qualification which is done over 2 years. You will be expected to have completed a Higher National Certificate or show an acceptable portfolio before being accepted. I did mine in Glasgow.

I have a Bachelors in Fine Art with a major in Photography and am considering a Masters in Photography. I learned more in the four year program for a bachelors degree than I could have learned in twenty years (if ever) of reading.

Well I think that might just have convinced me. I have an interview on thursday, but there are only 15 places. I will let you know how it goes. Might be handy if I do to follow a student through a course like this. It might help others.

Yes it would be helpful, however, don't expect to have a lot of free time to post. I have always been good at getting good grades by listening in class (with a minimal amount of studying). In a creative major though, I found I spent a TREMENDOUS amount of time shooting and in the darkrooms. That may just be from my anal nature but isn't the pursuit of photography anal in it's core? Good luck if you do return to school (it's never too late). :-)

I just love photography and mixing with other students. I have had a year out after studying two years for A-Level. I miss the imput I had from other students and find that now I don't do much darkroom work. I think I need a push. I will still use the forum a lot, if a get a place in college.

Just to let you know that I have been given unconditional entry to this course. I have been told a little about the work we will be doing and can't wait. Medium and large format, colour development and film making as well as history. I think I might enjoy this.
